Lahore: In a significant development, a committee was established on Saturday to facilitate seat adjustments between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) in preparation for the upcoming general elections.
The insiders revealed that the PML-N's seat adjustment committee includes Rana Sanaullah, Ayaz Sadiq, and Khawaja Saad Rafique, while Awn Chaudhry, Ishaq Khakwani, and Nauman Langrial will represent the IPP in the committee.
The sources indicated that Jahangir Tareen or his son Ali Tareen is expected to contest a National Assembly seat from Lodhran, while Aleem Khan and Awn Chaudhary are likely candidates for NA seats from Lahore.
It was mentioned that Ishaq Khakwani is set to vie for the seat from Vehari, and Nauman Langrial will be in the running for Sahiwal. Both parties are said to be strategizing to field strong candidates for the constituencies, with the potential consideration of an impartial survey to finalize selections.
Sources reported, “In the coming two to three days, a crucial meeting between the PML-N and IPP is scheduled to discuss seat adjustments, culminating in the formal announcement of selected candidates by both political entities,”.
On Friday, the PML-N engaged in talks with Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) leadership for an alliance and seat adjustment ahead of the elections.
According to sources, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif held a 45-minute meeting with IPP Patron-in-Chief Jahangir Khan Tarin at his Lahore residence. The meeting, attended by Awn Chaudhary from the IPP, and Ayaz Sadiq and Rana Sanaullah from the PML-N, focused on the country's political situation, upcoming general elections, and seat adjustments.
Both sides reportedly reached an agreement on seat adjustment for the upcoming general elections.
