Former S. African captain retires from Test cricket
36-year-old Dean, who debuted in 2012, is the eighth highest run-scorer for South Africa in Test cricket with 5146 runs.
Pretoria: The former South African Test captain and opening batsman Dean Elgar has announced retirement from Test cricket.
According to Cricinfo, Dean Elgar will play the last series of his Test career against India which is two-Test series between the Proteas and India and will start from January 3 in Cape Town.
If Elgar is included in the playing XI for both the Tests against India, he will have played 86 Tests in a career spanning 12 years.
Dean Elgar said that the Cape Town Test will be his last Test. This is his favorite stadium in the world where he scored first Test run against New Zealand and hopefully he will score his last run at this ground as well.
