Fawad Chaudhry completely boycotts elections
In the letter, Fawad Chaudhry added that the Election Commission has failed miserably in performing its duties.
Lahore: Former federal minister and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Fawad Chaudhry announced complete boycott of the upcoming general elections.
According to the details, Fawad Chaudhry wrote a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in which it has been said that there is no point of such elections in which there is no right to choose.
He said that he was arrested to withdraw from the election. Their workers were threatened and arrested.
The former federal minister stated: “Our nomination papers were rejected without justification, my brother's papers were approved, however he was made my co-accused in National Accountability Bureau (NAB)”.
In the letter, Fawad Chaudhry added that the Election Commission has failed miserably in performing its duties, in these circumstances my group announces a complete boycott of the elections.
It is pertinent to note that former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad was declared ineligible to contest the election from National Assembly Constituency NA-60 and NA-61 Jhelum.
A hearing was held in Rawalpindi following the appeal against the rejection of Fawad Chaudhry's nomination papers.
During the hearing, upholding the decision of the Returning Officer (RO), Fawad Chaudhry was disqualified from contesting the election.
Election Tribunal Judge Chaudhry Abdul Aziz dismissed the appeal of Fawad Chaudhry.
