IG Punjab said that all schools and colleges are open, police is providing full security and action will also be taken against those who misuse social media.


Lahore: The reports making rounds on social media regarding the closure of educational institutions were declared baseless.
According to the Inspector General (IG) Punjab Usman Anwar, no instruction has been issued to close schools or colleges, there is no security threat regarding educational institutions.
IG Punjab said that social media is being misused, people should not consider the news posted on social media. All schools and colleges are open, police is providing full security and action will also be taken against those who misuse social media.
It is pertinent to note that earlier on January 22, the news came out that three universities of Islamabad were closed for an indefinite period due to security concerns.
Security alerts were issued by sensitive institutions and the closed universities included National Defense University, Air University and Bahria University.
It was later added that in view of the security situation in Islamabad, it has been decided to keep the International Islamic University closed till January 26.
