Islamabad: The preparations of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the general elections in the country have entered the final stages.
The Election Commission has delegated the powers of Magistrates to District Returning Officers (DROs) and Returning Officers (ROs) for general elections.
The Election Commission has also issued a notification on entrusting powers to DROs and ROs.
Army deployment in elections
Earlier on yesterday, the Ministry of Interior issued a notification for the deployment of the Army and Civil Armed Forces during the general elections.
According to the notification, Army and Civil Armed Forces will be deployed as Quick Response Force for security from February 5 to 12.
Besides, the Election Commission has issued the code of conduct for the Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces.
According to the code of conduct, the police will be the first, while civil armed forces and the Pakistan Army will be responsible for the secondary and intermediate level of responsibilities. The Pakistan Army will be deployed outside the most sensitive polling stations only.
