The Meteorological Department says that the rain and snowfall is likely to continue intermittently till January 31.


Islamabad: The meteorological department has predicted rain in the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from today (Saturday).
According to the Meteorological Department, fog is likely to reduce in urban areas while snowfall is expected in upper districts from today.
The Meteorological Department says that the rain and snowfall is likely to continue intermittently till January 31.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has directed the district administration to take precautionary measures in view of rain and snowfall.
On the other hand, the cold wave continues across the country. After a long dry spell, rain and snowfall are predicted in the western regions from today.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light rain in the districts of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and snowfall in the mountains, while it will also rain in Murree, Islamabad and Potohar region.
In Balochistan, the coastal areas of Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Chaman, Barkhan and Makran are likely to experience light rain and snow on the mountains, while the weather will remain cold and dry in most parts of Sindh.
Motorways closed due to fog
The reign of fog also continues in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, due to which the motorways have been closed at various places.
Motorway-M3 from Faizpur to Jardanwala, M4 from Sher Shah to Shamkot, M5 from Sher Shah to Uch Sharif is closed due to fog.
The Motorway Police has advised the citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during the fog.
