Akhtar Mengal permitted to participate in elections
It has been stated by the court that it rejects the appeal filed against the approval of the nomination papers of Akhtar Mengal.
Islaamaad: Balochistan National Party (BNP) Chief Akhtar Mengal Monday got permission to participate in general elections.
According to the details, a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa heard the appeal against the approval of Akhtar Mengal's nomination papers in the Supreme Court.
The counsel of the objector Yasir Ahmad Sultan Ahmed appeared in the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court rejected the appeal against the decision of the High Court. The court said in its order that Yasir Ahmad filed an appeal against the approval of Akhtar Mengal's nomination papers. The Returning Officer (RO) rejected the nomination papers of Akhtar, while the Election Tribunal rejected the decision of the RO and accepted the nomination papers.
The court stated that the High Court upheld the decision of the Election Tribunal, Mengal is a candidate in the February 8 general elections.
It has been stated by the court that it rejects the appeal filed against the approval of the nomination papers of Akhtar Mengal.
Supreme Court refrained from interfering in cases related to the facts of an election matter.
During the hearing, Justice Musrat Hilali inquired the counsel that why he did not put the facts against the candidate in the Election Tribunal or the High Court.
The counsel for the objector told the court that these facts were placed before the High Court.
Chief Justice asked the lawyer Sultan Ahmed whether he is married. To which the objector's lawyer said that yes, he is married.
The Chief Justice said, ‘The next complaint against you will come from your wife’.
Justice Musrat Hilali while talking to the lawyer said that she is angry with him, for which the objector's lawyer apologized to the honorable judge.
