It was said in the letter that some workers of PTI announced to join the PPP and they were also detained by the local police.


Lahore: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Monday claimed that the Punjab police are arresting the political workers who joined the campaign of the Peoples Party from other parties.
In a letter written to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), PPP leader Senator Taj Haider said that the police are arresting those who joined the PPP campaign from other parties. The Punjab police has established a reign of terror in the area.
It was said in the letter that some workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced to join the PPP and they were also detained by the local police.
The councilor of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khalida Parveen was also picked up and locked up in the police station yesterday for joining the PPP.
Taj Haider stated in the letter that the in-charge of their election campaign, Zulfikar Ali Badr, contacted CCPO Lahore and was told that she had been arrested under a four-month-old First Information Report (FIR) filed against her.
PTI workers Shehbaz and Shahzad were also arrested for their involvement in PPP, those supporting Bilawal Bhutto in NA-127 are being arrested, added Taj Haider in the letter.
The leader of the Peoples Party, Taj Haider, has requested the Election Commission to order the release of the mentioned persons and to take action against those responsible.
It is pertinent to note that Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is contesting the election from NA-127 constituency of Lahore.
On the other hand, PPP Vice-President and Senator Sherry Rehman condemned the arrest of PPP representatives in NA-127 Lahore. She said that a few days ago, their election office was attacked with petrol bombs.
