Nawaz Sharif contacts Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman
There was a discussion between the two leaders regarding the political situation of the country and government formation.
Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mian Nawaz Sharif has telephoned Jamat-e-Ulema Islami (JUI) chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman.
According to the media reports, there was a discussion between the two leaders regarding the political situation of the country and government formation.
After the February 8 election results came out, no political party has a simple majority in the House to form a government alone.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released the results of 264 constituencies of the National Assembly on the website. According to ECP, PTI-backed Azad on 93 National Assembly seats, PML-N on 75 and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate on 54.
PML-N became the largest party in the National Assembly with 75 seats. Independent candidates won 101 seats out of which 93 are supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Peoples Party won 54 seats and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) managed to score 17 seats.
Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and JUI have won three seats each, while the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) got two seats and Majlis Wahdat al-Musleen, Muslim League Zia and Balochistan National Party have won one seat each.
