The nomination papers of all the candidates have been submitted in both assemblies.


Lahore: The members of Punjab and Sindh Assemblies will cast their votes for the post of Chief Minister today (Monday). The candidates of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) in Punjab, while in Sindh, the candidates of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Mutahidda Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) will face each other.
According to the details, PML-N candidate Maryam Nawaz and SIC’s Rana Aftab Ahmed will face each other in the election of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
The members of PML-N have submitted the nomination papers of Maryam Nawaz which were received by Punjab Assembly Secretary Chaudhry Amir Habib.
The nomination papers of Rana Aftab Ahmed, the nominee of the Sunni Unity Council, were also submitted.
Later, Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan scrutinized the papers, after which the papers of both the candidates were declared valid as per the rules and regulations.
Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said that the election of the Chief Minister of Punjab will be held on February 26 at 11:00 am.
Election of CM Sindh
On the other hand, the Chief Minister in Sindh Assembly will also be elected today.
PPP and MQM-Pakistan have submitted their nomination papers to the Secretary of Sindh Assembly for the elections.
The nomination papers of PPP candidate Murad Ali Shah were submitted by PPP leaders Ghulam Qadir Chandio, Naeem Kharal and others. While MQM Pakistan's candidate Ali Shurari submitted his nomination papers himself.
After the Sindh Assembly session yesterday, Chief Minister-designate Murad Ali Shah had also contacted the members supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to vote for him for the post for Chief Minister.
It is pertinent to note that yesterday in Sindh Assembly session, PPP's Owais Shah Speaker and Anthony Naveed were elected as the first Christian Deputy Speaker in the history of Sindh Assembly.
