Islamabad: The by-elections for six seats of Senate vacated by the newly elected members of national and provincial assemblies will be held today (Thursday) for which polling will continue from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

The members of the three Houses will be able to exercise their right to vote for the election of new Senate members on six seats.
For the seat of Islamabad, there is a contest between Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) candidate Chaudhry Ilyas Mehrban and Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Yusuf Raza Gilani.
In the Senate by-election for Sindh, PPP's Jam Saifullah Khan and Muhammad Aslam Abro, while SIC's Nazirullah and Shazia Sohail are candidates.
There will be a contest between nine candidates for the by-elections on three Senate seats from Balochistan.
Six Senate seats fell vacant after the resignation of Yusuf Raza Gilani, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Hydari, Nisar Khoro, Jam Mehtab, Prince Ahmad Umar and Sarfaraz Bagti.
