Provincial election commissioner had contacted from chief election commissioner on plea of opposition.
Peshawar: Election commission of Pakistan (ECP) has postponed senate elections on plea of opposition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to the details, the situation in KP regarding senate elections was not clear. The polling could not start for senate elections on 9am whereas the arrangements were completed and the election staff was also there.
Opposition members had submitted plea to postpone elections in KP assembly. Ahmed Karim Kundi had submitted the plea amid postpone elections to provincial election commissioner.
In the plea it is stated that the oath has not been taken still from 25 members of the elected government. So, the elections should be postponed.
Provincial election commissioner had contacted from chief election commissioner on plea of opposition. Chief minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur arrived at provincial assembly where he discussed the concerned members from senate elections.
However, later then the ECP postponed the elections on plea of opposition.
It should be noted that the Election commission made the election signs in KP subject to the oath of the elected assembly members.
