Pakistan ready for India talks if Kashmir status revisited
Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday that Pakistan is ready to resume talks with arch-rival India if Delhi neighbouring country gives a roadmap towards restoring the previous status of the disputed Kashmir.
"If there is a roadmap, then, yes, we will talk," Imran Khan told an international news agency.
I want a "civilized" and "open" relationship with India, Imran Khan clarified.
He stated that two nuclear-armed neighbours have to trade with each other to eradicate poverty from the region. India crossed the red line by ending Kashmir's sovereignty and now arch-rival India has to come to us for resumption of talks.
“While India has not responded yet,”
"Even if they give us a roadmap, that these are the steps that we will take to basically undo what they did, which is illegal, against international law and United Nations resolutions... then that is acceptable," PM added.
Pakistan and India both control parts of Kashmir but claim it in full.
In 2019, India withdrew India-ruled Kashmir's autonomy to tighten its grip over the territory, sparking outrage in Pakistan, the downgrading of diplomatic ties and a suspension of bilateral trade.
Previously, Pakistan had held that India would have to first reverse its 2019 steps for any normalisation process to begin.
