CTO Lahore Amara Athar said that the very positive effects of the helmet enforcement campaign are coming out.


Lahore: Mall Road in Lahore has been declared a no-go area for motorcycle riders without helmets.
To prevent the entry of motorcycle riders without helmets, check-posts have been erected at various places. The motorcycle riders without helmets are being stopped at Cantonment, Zafar Ali Road, Canal Road, Governor House and Istanbul Chowk.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Amara Athar said that the very positive effects of the helmet enforcement campaign are coming out. There has been a significant reduction in head injury cases. The helmet enforcement campaign has seen an extraordinary reduction in the load in hospitals, the helmet wearing of 90 percent citizens is positive, but more strictness is needed.
Amara Athar further said that action was taken against more than 78,000 motorcyclists during this year. There is a fine of 2,000 rupees for riding a motorcycle without a helmet. Citizens are only benefited by wearing helmets.
