First phase of jail directed to be completed in six months
The Interior Minister directed Chief Commissioner and IG Islamabad Police to regularly review the progress of construction activities
Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Friday assigned the task of completing the first phase of the construction of the jail in Sector-H of Islamabad in six months.
According to the details, Federal Interior Minister visited the under-construction jail in Islamabad. On this occasion, Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Agha, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Inspector General (IG) Police Islamabad, contractors, consultants and related officials were also present.
Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali briefed the Interior Minister about the project.
He was briefed that the project of jail construction in Islamabad started in 2017, and even after many years the project could not be completed.
The interior minister was told that the prison would have a capacity of 2,000 prisoners, and the capacity of 2,000 more prisoners would be increased.
Mohsin Naqvi inspected the under-construction jail and gave the task of completing the first phase of the jail construction in six months.
The Interior Minister directed Chief Commissioner and IG Islamabad Police to regularly review the progress of construction activities.
Mohsin Naqvi said that it is clearly incompetent to keep the project hanging for seven years, the construction of the jail should be completed within the timeline by working day and night.
The Federal Interior Minister added that the process of deployment of necessary staff should also be started immediately, and the provision of resources for the completion of the project will be ensured.
Naqvi directed the concerned authorities regarding the completion of the project under construction.
