According to the Attorney General, the issue of missing persons requires a political solution


Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday issued a written order to hear the case related to missing persons.
According to the details, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of IHC issued a four-page written order.
The Attorney General assured the court and under-took on behalf of the state and law enforcement agencies that every person who is alleged to be missing will be reunited with his family.
The court made the Attorney General's assurance a part of the written order, according to which the Attorney General said that the Ministerial Committee on Enforced Disappearances has prepared recommendations which will be submitted to the court after the approval of the Cabinet.
According to the Attorney General, the issue of missing persons requires a political solution.
Petitioner lawyer Iman Mazari gave the list of three missing students to the Attorney General. The court expects to be informed about the three missing persons at the next hearing.
The order further said that the request of forming a committee comprising the Director Generals (DGs) of secret agencies regarding the missing persons, was approved. Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI), Intelligence Bureau (IB) may appoint their second high-level officer as a committee member. The Committee on Enforced Disappearances comprising DGs of secret agencies may also include officials from Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).
According to the order, the old order of the Committee on Enforced Missing Persons comprising DGs of secret agencies is being amended.
