ASI Haji Akbar was posted in the liaison office of the Hayatabad police station

Peshawar: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Peshawar police was martyred and a passerby was injured after unknown assailants opened fire in the Sarband area of the provincial capital on Wednesday.
Police said that the shooting incident took place in the limits of the Sarband police station. ASI Haji Akbar was posted in the liaison office of the Hayatabad police station.
On the day of the incident, the ASI was going on a motorcycle to join his duty when unknown assailants opened fire on him. The firing left the police officer dead and a passerby wounded.
The police launched an investigation after lifting circumstantial evidence including empty shells from the crime scene.
