Pakistan's communication satellite to launch in space today
PakSat MM1 will help to improve TV broadcasting, cellular phone service and broadband service across Pakistan


Lahore: Pakistan's new communication satellite 'PakSat MM1' will launch into space today (Thursday).
Pakistan's second communication satellite jointly built by SUPARCO and China is ready for launch. It was be sent into space from China's Shichang Launch Center. MM1's launch will be shown on big screens at SUPARCO offices.
The preparations for launching PakSat MM1 satellite equipped with modern technology are complete and final rehearsals have also been done.
PakSat MM1 will operate for 15 years. It will help to improve TV broadcasting, cellular phone service and broadband service across Pakistan. The satellite will start providing service in August this year.
The communication system has a KA band capacity of 10 gigabytes per second providing coverage to the whole of Pakistan.
It is pertinent to note that Pakistan currently has two communication satellites in space. PakSat 1R was launched in 2011, it had a design life of 15 years which will be completed in 2026.
Another remote sensing satellite of Pakistan PRSS1 was launched in 2018. Pakistan also recently launched its first lunar satellite iCube Qamar.
