T20 WC: Namibia defeat Oman in first Super Over

Bridgetown: In the first super over of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's T20 World Cup, Namibia defeated Oman by 11 runs.

In the third match of the T20 World Cup, the match between Oman and Namibia was tied, after which the decision took place in the Super Over.

All-rounder David Wiza and captain Gerhard Erasmus came in to bat in the Super Over for Namibia, while Bilal Khan bowled for Oman.

Wiza hit a four off the first ball and then a six off the second, followed by two off the third ball and a run off the fourth.

Captain Erasmus hit two fours on the fifth and sixth balls to score 21 runs and Oman got a target of 22 runs to win in the super over.

The two teams in Group B face each other in Bridgetown, where Namibia won the toss and elected to bowl against Oman. Batting first, Oman scored 109 runs in 19.4 overs and set Namibia a target of 110 runs.

First innings

On the first ball of the innings, Oman's opening batsman Keship Parjapati was left LBW by Trumpelman, while Trumpelman also showed the way to Oman's captain Aqib Ilyas on the second ball of his first over.

On behalf of Oman, Khalid Keil scored 34 runs off 39 balls, while Zeeshan Maqsood scored 22 runs off 20 balls and Ayan Khan scored 15 runs off 21 balls.

Omani batsman Kaleemullah scored 11 runs off nine balls while no other batsman could enter double figures.

Bowling in the first innings, Namibia's Trumpelman managed to get four wickets for 21 runs in four overs, David Welle got three, Gerhard two and Bernard Schulz got one wicket.

Second innings

In the second innings against Oman, Namibia scored 109 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

In this match played in Bridgetown, Namibia's playing XI includes captain Gerhard Erasmus, Nicolas Dion, Michael van Langen, Jean Frelinck, Milan Kruger, Zane Green, JJ Summit, David Welle, Ruben Trumpelman and Bernard Schulz, including Tangini Langemani.

Under the leadership of captain Aqib Ilyas, the Oman team includes Naseem Khushi, Zeeshan Maqsood, Khalid Kail, Ian Khan, Muhammad Nadeem, Mehran Khan, Shakeel Ahmed, Kaleemullah, Keship Prajapati and Bilal Khan.
