The High Court allowed the markets to open till 12:00am in view of Eid-ul-Adha
Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Friday extended the opening hours of the markets on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
Justice Shahid Karim of LHC the petitions of citizen Farooq Haroon and others related to smog remediation.
The High Court allowed the markets to open till 12:00am in view of Eid-ul-Adha, while directing to keep the markets open till 1:00am on weekends.
During the hearing, the Punjab Food Authority's (PFA) report on dead chickens was presented, in which it was stated that 46,670 kg of dead chickens were destroyed from the Tollinton market.
The report further stated that 94 cases were registered against sellers of dead chickens and unhealthy meat, and raids are being conducted daily to check the meat.
Later, the Lahore High Court adjourned the hearing on the applications related to remedial smog till next Friday.
