The Chief Minister issued a grant cheque of Rs50 million to the Punjab Bar Council and Rs10 million each to the Bahawalpur and Multan High Court Bars


Lahore: The Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Saturday announced to increase the grant to Rs1 billion for the welfare of lawyers.
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam was met by the members of the apex bodies of the Bar Councils. Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar and Ahsan Bhoon were also present in the meeting. Chief Minister announced to increase the grant to Rs1 billion for the welfare of lawyers and to establish a special hall and day care center for women lawyers in Bar Council.
During the meeting, Chief Minister expressed deep grief and sorrow on the murder of two lawyers in Attock.
Following the instructions of Maryam Nawaz, the police immediately took the accused into custody. She directed to prosecute the accused in a special court under the Bar Council and Lawyers Protection Act and ordered the law minister to supervise.
She condoled with the officials of the Bar Council for the killing of lawyers saying that it is the responsibility of the government to ensure the protection of the lawyers' community.
Maryam Nawaz accepted the invitation to visit the Punjab Bar Council and also expressed her willingness to visit the Presidents of Bahawalpur and Multan Bar.
The Chief Minister issued a grant cheque of Rs50 million to the Punjab Bar Council and Rs10 million each to the Bahawalpur and Multan High Court Bars.
In the meeting, it was agreed to restore the treatment facilities in government hospitals for the lawyers' community, while strengthening the partnership between the provincial government and the lawyers' community was also discussed.
Maryam Nawaz assured the bar delegation of the government's support to solve the problems of lawyers and appreciated the efforts of lawyers to advance the collective goal of a fair and effective legal system in Punjab.
Speaking on this occasion, Chief Minister Punjab stated that the efforts of the lawyers’ community for the supremacy of law are commendable. They will fully support to ensure the rule of law and equal access to justice for every individual.
The Chief Minister of Punjab further said that the government will continue to perform administrative responsibilities to increase the efficiency of the judicial system and deliver justice promptly.
