On the charge of alleged desecration of the Holy Quran, the locals tortured the accused and dragged him naked on the streets


Swat: A person was killed on the charges of blasphemy in Madin area of Swat, while the angry mob also set fire to the police station where eight policemen were injured.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Swat Zahidullah Khan, on the charge of alleged desecration of the Holy Quran, the local residents tortured the accused and dragged him naked on the streets.
He said that Madin police arrested the accused and transferred him to the police station, then people also set fire to the police station and vandalised it. The angry people took the accused out of the police station and burnt him.
According to the police, the accused lost his life due to torture and burning, while eight police personnel were also injured in the attack by angry protesters.
Talking the notice of the incident in Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur contacted the Inspector General of Police by telephone and asked for a report on the incident.
Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expressed regret over the unfortunate incident and appealed to the citizens to remain peaceful.
