No compromise on merit, fitness, performance, PCB to strengthen domestic cricket

Lahore: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi decided to strengthen the domestic cricket system, he also approved in principle the plan to promote quality domestic cricket.
According to the details, a three-hour long meeting was held in the board room of the National Cricket Academy under the chairmanship of Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi in which important decisions were made regarding domestic cricket.
The structure of domestic cricket in India, Australia, England and New Zealand was also reviewed in the meeting, while the recommendations and suggestions for the promotion of quality domestic cricket were considered.
Chairman PCB while approving the plan to promote quality domestic cricket said it will be promoted at all levels.
He stated that the tournaments will be organised continuously from club level to national level. The players will be given further opportunities based on performance, fitness and merit. The promotion of quality domestic cricket will help reduce the gap with international cricket.
Mohsin Naqvi directed the professional grooming of good players and that the best coaches will improve their abilities by training new talents.
PCB has also decided to improve the quality of coaching for domestic cricket, a master coach will be appointed to train domestic cricket coaches.
Apart from this, it has been decided to revise the domestic contract and the players will have to play domestic cricket to join the national team.
Mohsin Naqvi stated that the players will be selected based on performance and tricks. There will be no compromise on merit, performance and fitness.
He further said that work has to be done on an urgent basis to bring out new talent, investing in new talent will promote cricket at the grassroots level and bring positive results.
On the instructions of Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi, it was also decided to hold tournaments of all three formats for the promotion of quality domestic cricket.
