Judicial Commission of Pakistan nominates Justice Aalia Neelum as next LHC CJ
The sources say that Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) gave approval of her name with consensus of all the members
Islamabad: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday approved the name of Justice Aalia Neelum as the next chief justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC).
Justice Neelum would be the first female chief justice of the LHC.
The judicial commission gave approval in a meeting with Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa in the chair.
The sources said that Justice Neelum was nominated with the consensus of the members of the judicial commission
The development took place after Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan was elected to the Supreme Court.
At this time, Justice Shujaat Ali Khan is serving as the acting chief justice of the Lahore High Court, and Justice Ali Baqir Najfi is at the second number in terms of seniority while Justice Aalia Neelum is at the third number.
