Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the central procession of 9th Muharram in Islamabad and reviewed the security arrangements made in this regard.

The interior minister  also met with the organizers and inquired about the arrangements. The organizers expressed satisfaction over the security and other arrangements.

The Interior Minister took an aerial view of the entire route of the procession and directed that security personnel must remain on duty until the procession concludes. He also instructed the police and administration to ensure the implementation of the security plan and deploy snipers on the roofs along the procession route.

The Interior Minister said that the Federal Government is providing all possible cooperation to maintain peace and order in the provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Islamabad. He directed that the security plan be implemented in letter and spirit across the country, and that drones be banned from flying over processions and majalis.

The Interior Minister also directed that alternative plans be made for processions and majalis in case of rain. He emphasized the need for strict implementation of the code of conduct across the country.

The Interior Minister was accompanied by Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Ali Agha, Chief Commissioner, IGP and DIG Operation.
