Texas: Sheila Jackson Lee, the chairperson of the Pakistan Caucus in the US Congress, passed away at the age of 74.
According to the details, Sheila Jackson Lee, a member of Congress from the state of Texas, was suffering from cancer for a long time.
We announce the passing of Sheila Jackson Lee, United States Representative for the 18th Congressional District of Texas, a national and international humanitarian, justice and human rights activist, especially women and recognized worldwide for her courageous efforts for children, her family wrote confirming the news of her death.
She has been serving as a member of Congress since 1995. Sheila Jackson was also the chairperson of the Pakistan Caucus in the US Congress. Sheila took the lead in helping Pakistan in every calamity including floods, and earthquakes.
She was also awarded the Hilal-e-Pakistan award by the Government of Pakistan for her services. She is survived by her husband, two children, and two grandchildren.
Jackson was also known for attending public meetings and fighting for federal funding for her area of Houston, pledging $1 billion in 2009 to improve the city's light system.
