Gaza: The Israeli military launched airstrikes on the Gaza Strip early on Wednesday after Palestinians in the besieged enclave sent incendiary balloons into southern Israel, Israel’s military and witnesses in Gaza said.

According to details, the Israeli military released a statement in which it confirmed the airstrikes and said it attacked Hamas compounds and that it was “ready for all scenarios, including renewed fighting in the face of continued terrorist acts emanating from Gaza”.
The military confirmed that the response came after Palestinians launched balloons, which as per Israeli officials, caused 20 blazes in open fields in communities near the Gaza border.
The attacks have also been confirmed by the Hamas officials who reiterated that Palestinians would continue to pursue their “brave resistance and defend their rights and sacred sites” in Jerusalem.
The airstrikes is the first major conflict between Israel and Gaza since a ceasefire came into effect on May 21 ending Israel’s 11-day violence on the territory, which left at least 256 Palestinians, including 66 children, dead. Twelve people in Israel were also killed by rockets fired from the enclave.
They also are the first raids on Gaza since a new Israeli coalition government, headed by right-wing nationalist Naftali Bennett, assumed power during the weekend, ending Benjamin Netanyahu’s 12-year run as a premier.
