Protestors rejected government’s demand to call of the sit-in immediately

Islamabad: The Jamat-e-Islami (JI) has accepted the federal government's offer for dialogue and formed a four-member committee led by Liaquat Baloch to negotiate its demands.
This development comes as JI continues its sit-in protest on Murree Road, Rawalpindi, against inflation, heavy taxes on electricity, and contracts with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) for the third consecutive day.
Federal Minister for Information Ataullah Tarar, accompanied by MNA Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and other officials, visited the protest camp and offered to initiate talks.
A JI spokesperson stated that while the government delegation urged the party to call off the sit-in, the leadership refused but agreed to the dialogue offer.
JI chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman established the negotiation committee, which includes Liaquat Baloch, Ameerul Azeem, Farasat Shah, and Nasrullah Randhawa. The first round of negotiations between the government and JI is scheduled to take place today (Sunday).
In the meantime, JI has reiterated its demand for the government to take immediate steps to alleviate the suffering of the poor.
