FIA prosecutor requested for further five-day physical remand of Rauf Hassan


Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Rauf Hassan and others were produced before the District and Sessions Court Islamabad after completion of physical remand.
Rauf Hassan and other accused were presented in the court of Judicial Magistrate Shabbir Bhatti where PTI leader's lawyers Senator Ali Zafar, Ali Bukhari and others appeared while Prosecutor Amir Sheikh appeared in the court on behalf of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
FIA Prosecutor Amir said that the technical report has been received, all the accused were in contact with each other. Lawyer Ali Zafar said that the seven-day physical remand of Rauf and others has been completed, Rauf’s health is not good, check-up should be conducted.
The FIA prosecutor requested for a further five-day physical remand of Rauf Hassan, while the Magistrate of the Special Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) Court, Shabbir Bhatti, rejected the request for further physical remand and sent him to jail on judicial remand.
On the previous hearing, duty judge Mureed Abbas handed over Rauf and others to FIA on two-day physical remand. The FIA has obtained a total remand of seven days for Rauf Hassan and others.
It is pertinent to note that on July 25, the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad granted another three-day physical remand against PTI leader Rauf Hassan and nine other accused under the PECA Ordinance.
On July 23, the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad handed over the Central Information Secretary of PTI to the FIA on a two-day physical remand.
PTI’s Information Secretary Rauf Hassan was arrested on July 22 during Islamabad Police raid on the party Secretariat.
Earlier, Shibli Faraz had claimed that the police had arrested both PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and leader Rauf Hasan, but the police did not say in which case they were arrested.
