Turkey blocks Instagram across country
Meta did not comment on Turkey's ban on Instagram or Altun's comments


Ankara: Turkey has blocked the social media platform Instagram across the country.
According to the report of the foreign news agency, Turkey did not clarify the reason for blocking Instagram, but it has been blocked across the country.
The report stated that the order to block Instagram in Turkey was issued on the website of the Turkish Information Technologies and Communications Authority.
The move follows comments on Wednesday from Turkish communications official Farahtin Altun, who criticised Instagram for blocking posts condoling the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
He said in a statement on social media site X that ‘this is pure censorship, Instagram did not cite any policy violation for its action’.
However, Meta did not comment on Turkey's ban on Instagram or Altun's comments.
