Islamabad: The federal budget 2021-21 depicts a series of indirect taxes not direct one that lead to an upsurge in the country’s fiscal deficit, said former Deputy Chairman Senate and Senator Saleem Mandiwala on Thursday.

Talking to reporters, he feared the country could face further deterioration in its economic health.
“The prices of POL will increase in days to come. The government has enhanced taxation on LNG,” the PPP leader further said.
He didn’t rule out mini budget in the new fiscal year, saying the government is in the habit of increasing prices even without announcing mini budget.
Responding to a question, he said: “Having been the part of politics for the last 12 years or so, I am completely upset over abuses and brawls in the lower house as such incidents are tantamount to defaming the parliamentary norms.”
He said the parliamentarians even did not bother to ensure sanctity of sacred writings on the budget books that were hurled on each other.
“The entire world has seen what Muslims are doing with each other in Pakistan,” he said, adding the incident caused embarrassment globally.
