Paris: In his initial effort during the men's javelin throw qualifiers at the Stade de France, Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem delivered a robust throw of 86.59 meters, securing the second position in the standings and making it into the finals.
Four athletes from the Group A qualification round have already secured their places in Thursday night’s final.
Leading the field is Germany’s Julian Weber, whose impressive 87.76-meter throw, achieved with a single attempt, ensured his effortless progression to the final. The reigning European Games champion demonstrated his prowess with this solitary, commanding performance.
Julius Yego, who earned silver for Kenya at the Rio 2016 Olympics, has recorded the second-best throw of the day so far with a season-best 85.97 meters.
Jakub Vadlejch, the current world number one from Czechia, achieved a straightforward third place with his solitary 85.63-meter attempt.
Finland’s Toni Keranen, making his Olympic debut, commenced with a commendable 85.27-meter throw, marking both a personal and seasonal best.
