Rawalpindi: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi rejected Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed's request to hold a rally at Lal Haveli on the night of August 13.

Sheikh Rashid had applied to the district administration for a meeting at Lal Haveli on the night of August 13 on the occasion of Independence Day, which was rejected by the DC Rawalpindi.

The district administration stated that they cannot allow the public gathering in view of the law and order situation.

The video statement of AML chief and former federal minister Rashid Ahmed regarding the cancellation of the meeting has come out.

In the video statement, he said that they had been barred the meeting on August 13. ‘I regret the cancellation of the meeting and announce the cancellation of the meeting after the order of DC’.

He stated: “We do not want a fight, we don't want the poor worker to suffer. I am the first and only politician of Pakistan who suffer the children's jail. I used to teach grade third and fourth students in Haripur jail. Khan. I started my politics with Bacha Khan, Wali Khan, Zahoor Elahi, Shoorash Kashmiri, Khawaja Safdar, Khawaja Rafiq, and Bizenjo”.

The former federal minister added that he regretted that he was imprisoned for seven years right after offering his mother's funeral prayers. ‘I didn't suppress, I didn't bend, I built seven educational institutions for the daughters of Rawalpindi’.

Sheikh Rashid further said that the most painful moment in his life was that he was picked up for 40 days. He does not know where he was kept for 40 days, but did not write against anyone. He did not give any audio or video statement against anyone or anyone’s wife, also addressed a press conference of his own free will.
