Vice President Kamala Harris selected Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate in the 2024 election. A former high school teacher and military veteran, Walz has been in politics for almost two decades, having started as a member of Congress in 2007. He has a record of winning over rural conservative voters and of advancing bills on police reform, abortion protections, and education funding. A Midwesterner, Walz could prove to be a useful surrogate for shoring up support in his own, usually blue state, as well as crucial battlegrounds in Michigan and Wisconsin. Harris and Walz are set to make their first joint appearance at a campaign rally in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They will face off against former President Donald Trump and Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance in the 2024 election. Follow here for the latest news, analysis, and explainers.
