No option to ignore or delay supreme court verdicts, says Justice Mansoor Ali Shah
Senior puisne judge says it is a constitutional binding to implement the verdict of the apex court
Islamabad: Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, a senior puisne judge of the Supreme Court, emphasized on Saturday that Supreme Court verdicts must be implemented without exception.
Speaking at a seminar in Islamabad, Justice Shah declared that it is unconstitutional to ignore or delay the enforcement of Supreme Court rulings. "Failure to implement these judgments would disrupt the entire legal system and upset the constitutional balance," he warned.
Justice Shah stressed that Supreme Court decisions are grounded in the Constitution, which is the highest law of the land. "There is no option but to comply with the Supreme Court's orders," he said, underscoring that ignoring these rulings is a violation of the Constitution.
He also highlighted the importance of the separation of powers in a democracy, noting that respecting this principle is not just a duty but a constitutional obligation. "Disregarding Supreme Court rulings goes against the core of democracy," he added.
Justice Shah made it clear that the Supreme Court alone has the authority to make decisions on matters before it, and once a judgment is issued, it must be implemented. He warned of severe consequences if the constitutional duty to enforce Supreme Court orders is not fulfilled.
