Quetta: Balochistan Finance Minister Mir Zahoor Ahmad Buledi has presented the annual budget for financial year 2021-22 soon after showdown between Opposition lawmakers and police outside the assembly premises.

The budget session is being chaired by Speaker Balochistan Assembly Mir Abdul Qadoos Bazinjo.
Opening his budget speech, tthe minister said the govenrment is presenting the 'tax-free' annual budget with total outlay of Rs500 billion. An amount of Rs84.7 billion has been proposed to overcome the annual budget deficit of outgoing fiscal year.
He said Rs140 billion are being allocated for development spending, while Rs370 billion have been proposed for non-development expenditure.
Balochistan is expected to receive Rs302 billlion from the federal divisible pool under the National Finance Commission (NFC).
The minister said the Annual Development Programme (ADP) will have Rs179.19 billion to be spent on development schemes.
"The govenrment is allocating Rs3.6 billion to overcome the coronavirus pandemic," he said.
The government has earmarked Rs112 billion to be spent on the ongoing development schemes, and Rs76 billion for 2,286 new development schemes.
Buledi announced to construct 100 new schools across the province, saying an amount of Rs71 billion will be spent on education.
Revealing details regarding spending on healthcare, he said the government has proposed Rs38 billion for health in the upcoming fiscal year 2021-22.
"All living souls in the province will be issued health card with up to Rs1 million medical expense," he said.
The Balochistan govenrment has proposed Rs1.6 billion for water and sanitaion and Rs52 billion for law and order.
According to the minister the government will roll out 140 new rural schemes in the next fiscal year.
He announced 10 per cent raise in the pays and pensions of government servants besides 1,793 new vacanies in different departments.
