PTA kicks off crackdown against illegal SIM cards
In first phase targets SIM cards registered with fake or canceled ID cards
Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has begun a phased crackdown on illegal SIM cards across the country.
Starting from Friday, the first phase targets SIM cards registered with fake or canceled ID cards.
According to private news channel report, the data for this action was provided by NADRA.
In the next phase, SIMs linked to expired ID cards will be blocked, followed by a third phase targeting those registered under the names of deceased individuals.
Before deactivating the SIMs, users have been notified through messages and asked to update their registration details.
PTA officials stressed that the illegal use of SIM cards is a serious concern, with fake SIMs often used for criminal activities.
