Grozny: Russian President Vladimir Putin kissed copy of Holy Quran he was presented as a gift on Wednesday.
President Putin also held Quran close to his heart.
He was visiting the Muslim-majority region of Chechnya for the first visit in 13 years.
According to international news agencies, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov warmly welcomed President Putin upon his arrival. During their meeting, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of strengthening military, trade, and economic ties.
The two nations share a strong relationship, and President Kadyrov has often referred to the Russian president as his friend in various media interactions.
During his visit, President Putin, accompanied by President Ramzan Kadyrov and the Grand Mufti of Chechnya, visited the Isa Mosque in Grozny, where they spent some time.
The Grand Mufti of Chechnya recited a verse from Surah Al-Anfal and provided its translation in Russian for President Putin.
