He gave these remarks involving rape and ‘temptation’ during an interview to a foreign media outlet Axios on HBO.

The PM’s remarks attracted men and women on Twitter to react strongly.

When asked if he thinks what women wear has any effect [on men], Imran Khan said, "If a woman is wearing very few clothes, it will have an impact on the men, unless they are robots. It’s just common sense.”

The host asked if it is really going to provoke acts of sexual violence to which PM replied, "It depends on which society you live in. In a society where people haven’t seen that sort of a thing, it will have an impact on them. If you grow up in a society like you. Maybe it won’t on you,” he said addressing host.

This is cultural imperialism. Whatever is acceptable in our culture must be acceptable everywhere else. It's not," he added.

Imran Khan's remarks led to an outrage on social media with people criticizing him for linking sexual abuse cases in the country with how women dress.

Prime Minister’s focal person on digital media, Dr Arslan Khalid called it "selective and out of context tweeting".

"Again selective and out of context tweeting of what he actually said by subtracting the part where he talked about what kind of society we live in and about the sexual frustration in the society," Dr Arslan Khalid shared on twitter.

‘US needs political solution before leaving Afghanistan’

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the United States should first establish political settlement before leaving Afghanistan.

In an interview with HBO Axios, the premier said Pakistan will "absolutely not" give bases to the CIA for anti-terror action in the war-torn country.

He said that Pakistan has suffered the most due to the war against terrorism.

"Over 70,000 Pakistanis embraced martyrdom due to US-Afghan war. We have given sacrifices more than anybody else in this war." He noted that his country is currently hosting three million Afghan refugees.

PM Imran Khan said, "We only want peace and don't want to be part of any confrontation."

“Before leaving Afghanistan, the US must find a political solution," he said.

The comments from the Pakistani premier came amid the commencement of the withdrawal of foreign troops, which will be completed by September, while the peace process is facing hurdles due to disputes among the Afghan leaders.

Pakistan's nuclear programme

The prime minister told the interviewer the country's nuclear programme is only for self-defence. "I am against nuclear weapons, but our nuclear arsenal is for defence purposes," he said.

Kashmir issue

Lashing out at the West's indifference towards the plight of the Kashmiris, the premier said India has turned Kashmir into an open prison by deploying hundreds of troops there.

"The Kashmiris are ignored in the West. Why is this issue not taken up there. I think this is hypocrisy," he said.
