German police Monday arrested a Russian scientist working at an unidentified university, accusing him of snooping for Moscow.

According to foreign media reports, the prosecutor said, the suspect—a researcher was working for the Russian Secret Service and was arrested a few days ago.
The scientist is accused of transferring sensitive information from a German university and giving it to Moscow in exchange for money.
Media reports cited that the accused was an employee of an unnamed German university at the time of his arrest.
German officials say the suspect also met with Russian intelligence officials three times between October 2020 and June 2021, in which he twice allegedly provided intelligence information about the university to officials.
German authorities searched his home and workplace in the course of the arrest.
The suspect appeared before a judge on Saturday who remanded him in custody.
