Islamabad: The Islamabad Police arrested Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Maulana Naseem-ur-Rehman from inside Parliament House.
According to media reports, PTI leader Zain Qureshi, Waqas Akram along with Aamir Dogar and other leaders were also present inside the Parliament House, later they were also detained.
It is also reported that the lights of the Parliament House were switched off before the arrest, after which the officials entered the Parliament House.
It is pertinent to note that earlier, Islamabad Police arrested PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and Sher Afzal Marwat from outside Parliament, while according to reports, Shoaib Shaheen was arrested from his residence.
The reports suggest that according to the new law, the crackdown will likely be started against the Punjab leadership present in the assembly and the Islamabad Police has officially informed the Punjab Police.
The cases have been registered against PTI leaders in three police stations under the Assembly and Public Order 2024. The cases include interference in government, vandalism and violation of Section 144, reportedly.
