Polio confirmed in 9-month-old girl in Mohmand
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ordered an inquiry into the case
Mohmand: A polio case has been reported from Tehsil Safi of Mohmand district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the health department of KP, the polio virus has been confirmed in Safi's nine-month-old girl who was administered the polio vaccine only two times.
Taking notice of the incident, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has ordered an inquiry into the case.
Ali Amin Gandapur directed the suspension of the concerned District Health Officer (DHO) and Polio Coordinator and said that the quality of the anti-polio campaign should be ensured in all other districts as well.
On the other hand, more than 18,000 parents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa refused to give anti-polio vaccine to their children.
According to the document, in the anti-polio campaign, a total of 5.686 million children were administered polio vaccine.
