According to the court decision, as per religion Islam, a widow can remarry. This is basic right of a woman

Lahore: The Lahore High Court invalidated the notification of dismissal of the widow from the government job after the second marriage.
The LHC issued a written decision on the appeal of woman Zoya Islam, which was written by a two-member bench headed by Justice Chaudhry Iqbal.
The appellant took the position that after the death of her husband, a government employee, she got the job of deputy messenger in 2020, and remarried in 2021, based on which she was dismissed from the job.
According to the court decision, the job given to the widow of an employed husband cannot be terminated after the second marriage because as per religion Islam, a widow can remarry. This is the basic right of a woman.
It has been further stated in the court decision that firing a widow from a job because of a second marriage is a violation of Sharia laws. The Supreme Court has decided on the law that led to terminating the widow from the job. The court set aside the single bench decision and the notification of dismissal of the widow. It also approved widow Zoya Islam's appeal.
