They said that if the competent authority decided to give him a military trial, then legal procedure would be adopted

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday disposed of former Prime Minister Imran Khan's plea against his possible military trial as the government has clarified that the founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will not be court-martialed and that such a move will only begin after formalities are completed.
According to the details, IHC Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the application.
During the hearing, Additional Attorney General Barrister Munawar Iqbal Dogal appeared in the court.
On the court's inquiry about presenting Imran Khan in a military court, Barrister Munawar Iqbal said that the federal government has not taken any decision to court martial Imran Khan in connection with the May 9 cases.
However, he said that if the competent authority decided to give him a military trial, then legal procedure would be adopted and permission would be sought from the concerned judicial magistrate.
Later, the court disposed of the application on this bail.
It is pertinent to note that on May 9, Imran Khan filed a petition against a possible military trial in the cases registered against him in connection with the torture.
Meanwhile, the same court sought details of cases filed against Khan's wife Bushra Bibi.
Justice Miangul Hassan issued notices to the Home Secretary, Inspector General of Police and others after the preliminary hearing of the case.
Further hearing of the case was adjourned till September 27.
