Imran Khan, PTI workers face charges for protests in Lahore

Lahore: A case has been lodged against Imran Khan, several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, and around 200 party workers following protests in Lahore.

The case, registered at the Islam Pura police station, involves serious charges including rebellion against the state, terrorism, and attempted murder. Among the prominent figures named are PTI chief Imran Khan, Hammad Azhar, Salman Akram Raja, Ghulam Mohiuddin, MPA Shahbaz, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, Sheikh Imtiaz, Ali Imtiaz, and Shabbir Gujjar.

The complaint alleges that while in jail, Imran Khan incited these leaders to provoke violence against the state. During the protests, the leaders and their supporters reportedly raised anti-state slogans and injured Constable Bilal.

The FIR also noted that 16 protestors were arrested at the scene, with ongoing legal actions being taken against them.

In addition, cases were registered against PTI workers for violating Section 144, which prohibits public gatherings. These violations occurred in various areas of the city, including Milt Park and Hanjarwal.

In Hanjarwal, under ASI Aqeel's complaint, five workers were arrested for attempting to protest, while in Milt Park, Sub-Inspector Hafiz Imran’s complaint led to a case being filed against ten workers.
