Diphtheria is a seasonal disease and always comes


Karachi: Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho said that diphtheria is a contagious disease for which there is a vaccine.
Talking to the media at Expo Center Karachi, Dr Ezra Pechuho stated that the organization of the Health Asia Expo is welcome. People from foreign countries are participating in the exhibition, it will be welcome to bring health tourism to Pakistan.
Talking about diphtheria cases in Sindh, she added that diphtheria is a seasonal disease and always comes.
She further said that there have been 160 cases of diphtheria and 28 deaths in Sindh this year. There is a need to improve vaccination coverage while the diphtheria vaccine is available.
Dr Ezra Pechuho also stated that the testing of chikungunya is difficult as its kits are expensive. The health department has talked to KMC about the spray campaign.
