'We have almost won the war on terrorism': DG ISPR

Islamabad: Pakistan has almost won the war on terrorism as terrorists have damaged Pakistan's individuality in front of the world in the last 20 years, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Major General Babar Iftikhar said on Saturday.

"The country had come across the spate of terorrism in the last 20 years or so, but now we have almost overcome this menace," he said while adressing the National Amature Short Film Festival Awards ceremony in the federal capital.

He observed that in the world, perception was often regarded as reality and stressed upon aligning the perception with reality.

The general said Pakistan had been blessed with myriad gifts and talents but it underwent threats of terrorism, in the past decade which had impacted the country’s image at the international level.

He said 60 per cent pouplation of the country comrprised the youth and that the 'youth is playing its active role in the festival'.

Iftikhar said youth would make short films during the festival, adding this festival would promote Pakistan's positive image across the globe.

The DG ISPR said the participation of Prime Minister Imran Khan in the awards distribution ceremony would energize the youth.   

Babar Iftikhar further said they had received participants from 72 universities of the country for this contest and with submission of 2300 quality short films.

He lauded efforts of the ministry of information for making the event successful.
