Nawaz, Shehbaz hold telephonic conversation to discuss upcoming AJK elections
Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif have held telephonic conversation to discuss upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections.
According to GNN, Nawaz Sharif directed PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif to focus on Kashmir elections. The two agreed to hand over the Kashmir election campaign to PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, who is Nawaz Sharif’s daughter.
Nawaz Sharif directed Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz to run the election campaign of party candidates in Kashmir elections.
The PML-N supremo asked both leaders to address separate public gatherings and criticize government's Kashmir policy and rising inflation.
The party leader also directed to strengthen the opposition’s alliance against the government.
It may be recalled that the 11th general elections to the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly are scheduled to be held on July 25. According to the Azad Kashmir Election Commission, elections will be held in 33 constituencies of Azad Kashmir and 12 constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir. Four additional constituencies have been added as compared to the previous elections.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), 2,817,090 voters will exercise their right to vote in Azad Kashmir, out of which 1,519,347 are male and 1,297,747 are female voters.
