Dr Lubna Zaheer represents Pakistan at Japan’s Int'l Conference
Dr Zaheer discussed the significant financial and security hurdles that journalists face in South Asia
Tokyo: Professor Dr Lubna Zaheer, who leads the Film and Broadcasting Department at the University of the Punjab, recently showcased Pakistan on the international stage at a distinguished conference in Japan. Among participants from 32 countries, Dr Zaheer was the only academic representing Pakistan, highlighting the nation’s engagement in global dialogues.
In her presentation, Dr Zaheer discussed the significant financial and security hurdles that journalists face in South Asia, particularly in Pakistan. She underscored the critical need for structured training programs, suggesting that such initiatives could strengthen journalistic standards and enhance safety for reporters operating in challenging environments.
During her visit to Tokyo, Dr Zaheer also stopped by the Pakistani Embassy, where she met with Ambassador Mr Raza Tarar. Their conversation centered on the potential for partnerships with Japanese universities, aiming to support academic and media exchanges between the two nations. Dr Zaheer’s role at the conference underscored Pakistan’s dedication to advancing media professionalism and building international relationships.
