Supreme Court has also allotted a diary number to the constitutional petition
Islamabad: Another petition against the 26th constitutional amendment was filed in the Supreme Court by opposition leader Punjab Assembly Ahmed Khan Bichhar and others.
According to the details, Advocate Munir Ahmed is also among the petitioners.
The petition adopted the position that the amendment conflicts with the basic structure of the constitution. The parliament does not have the authority to strengthen the independence of the judiciary. While the Supreme Court has declared that fundamental rights cannot be abolished or reduced. It was requested that the amendment be declared null and void as it conflicts with the independence of the judiciary.
The Supreme Court has also allotted a diary number to the constitutional petition.
It is pertinent to note that petitions against the 26th constitutional amendment are being submitted in various courts of the country including the Supreme Court.
